Hamilton Clarke, LLP secured a full acquittal on a federal obstruction of justice charge following a multi-week jury trial in the Eastern District of New York: United States v. Gregory Bruce, 23-cr-292, tried before the Honorable Rachel P. Kovner.

The charge, brought under 18 U.S.C. § 1512(c)(2), alleged that Mr. Bruce had corruptly attempted to obstruct the administration of justice in a federal proceeding. From the outset, our client maintained his innocence. After a thorough review of the record and the government’s theory, the defense determined that the evidence did not support the charge, either as a matter of fact or law.

Through focused cross-examinations, clear issue framing, and a trial strategy grounded in the actual limits of the prosecution’s proof, Hamilton Clarke presented a defense that emphasized both the government’s burden and the statutory standard required for conviction. After deliberation, the jury agreed and returned a verdict of not guilty.

This result is a testament to the power of disciplined trial advocacy, rigorous pretrial analysis, and a defense team committed to holding the government to its burden.

At Hamilton Clarke, we are proud to defend our clients with clarity, conviction, and care at every stage of the process.
